Abstract

Abstract Aloha protocols are characterized by their easy performance and relatively simple hardware requirement as compared with other protocols like CSMA/CA. The main disadvantages of Aloha protocols are the low throughput and long delays as the offered load increases. In this paper, direct sequence spread spectrum is introduced to increase the throughput of Aloha protocols. This can be achieved by increasing the auto correlation and minimizing the cross correlation and as a consequence decreasing the rate of contention between the transmitted packets.
